The University of Houston Nanofabrication Facility is a state-of-the-art research facility featuring 3300 square feet of cleanroom space and is equipped with an extensive toolset for nano/micro device prototyping and characterization.
Researchers access our labs and collaborate on projects originating from all across the UH campus including the departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineeering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and others. The facility is also available to researchers at other universities, medical schools, non-profit organizations, government labs and industry. Some of the many areas of research include data storage and analysis systems, microelectromechanical systems, semiconductor materials, quantum structures, and photonics.
Funding for construction of the facility was a strategic investment by the University of Houston to help support Houston’s nanotechnology community. Additional support for construction was provided by the Alliance for NanoHealth. The cost of the facility is estimated at $7M and the facility houses an estimated $3M worth of equipment.
The Nanofabrication Facility is part of the Division or Research and is operated with administrative assistance from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. The facility is self supporting, relying on users fees to cover the cost of operation.
